August 14, 2004 — On Monday, August 9 at about 7:00 p.m., local chiropractor, Dr. Scott McLeod, got an unexpected phone call. The person on the other end of the phone was the coach for the United States Decathlon team, calling to thank Dr. McLeod for all the time and work he and his staff have been putting in to help raise funds for the athletes heading to Athens on the 13th of August. “You’re the real Olympian”, he declared as he explained how grateful the team is to have supporters like this.

Dr. McLeod is currently a member doctor of the “World’s Greatest Athlete Chiropractic Decathlon Club” (WGACDC) which has been supporting the athletes for several months leading up to the Olympics. Two of the three chosen decathletes for the U.S. team, Tom Pappas and Paul Terek, are members of the WGACDC and have also relied on chiropractic to achieve their athletic goals.

Tom Pappas: ?I?ve had in the past numerous back to back injuries, one after another. Chiropractic care has had a big impact on the success I?m having in staying healthy and operating in peak performance.?

Since the Olympic Trials in Sacramento last month, Tom Pappas had been training at the University of Tennessee and Paul Terek at San Luis Obispo, Calif. Both athletes have been training very hard; are in excellent physical condition and currently injury free.

Both athletes left for Athens on August 10th and will be attending the opening ceremonies on August 13th.
