Tympany Introduces the OtogramTM: An Automated and Self-Administered Hearing Test Helps Physicians Easily Diagnose Hearing Loss!
Houston, Texas October 6, 2003– Tympany, Inc., a Houston-area-based company, introduced its newest product, the ?OtogramTM?, to family physicians at the 2003 American Academy of Family Physicians Scientific Assembly in New Orleans, Louisiana, held October 2-4, 2003. The OtogramTM is the first fully-automated and self-administered comprehensive diagnostic hearing testing system to be developed and sold in the market.
?Tympany was founded to address the current crisis of the nation?s growing population of patients suffering from conductive or sensorineural hearing loss. 10% of the population (28 million people) and 35-40% of the over 65 population suffer from hearing loss; however only a small percentage of these individuals are actually diagnosed and treated,? said Chris Wasden, Tympany?s president and CEO. ?The need for management of this chronic condition has never been greater and the OtogramTM helps physicians easily diagnose hearing loss in their patients.?
With Tympany?s OtogramTM, healthcare professionals can now conduct automated and self-administered diagnostic hearing testing in their offices without the need of a sound booth. These tests include comprehensive audiograms, including pure-tone air and bone conduction, speech reception threshold and speech discrimination tests, all with masking; tympanometry and acoustic reflex. Any staff member can prepare the patient for testing in about 5 minutes and the patient self-administers the diagnostic test through touch-screen operation, following verbal and onscreen instructions. The OtogramTM can conduct tests in six languages (Russian, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish and English) and Tympany currently is developing additional languages.
?The Journal of the American Medical Association recently published a ?call to action? to all Primary Care physicians in the United States to increase their diagnostic capabilities with regards to hearing loss,? Michael E. Glasscock, III, M.D., F.A.C.S., Tympany?s chairman, pointed out. ?The OtogramTM will allow these physicians to improve their standard of care and their patients? hearing health.?
Tympany designs, develops, markets and sells proprietary, automated diagnostic hearing testing equipment to physicians and hearing health professionals. Tympany’s proprietary Otogram automates and allows a patient to self-administer the most important diagnostic hearing tests providing the following benefits: 1) patients prefer the Otogram test over manual testing; 2) the Otogram doubles the productivity of hearing health professionals; 3) the Otogram?s telemedicine capabilities allow hearing professionals to expand their practice scope and reach; and 4) the Otogram allows physicians to generate additional practice income.

Heartburn is extremely common in the United States. It’s one of the most common reasons why people go to gastroenterologists, and also to their family doctor. There are a lot of good ways to manage Heartburn with lifestyle changes, over-the-counter remedies available for self-medication, or effective prescription drugs.
Heartburn is a discomfort or pain caused by the stomach contents regurgitating from the stomach up into the gullet. The oesophagus is not made to withstand acid and is thus irritated and inflamed when acid from the stomach refluxes into it. Heartburn can really affect quality of life. There are very good remedies for this condition. When someone suffers from chronic heartburn, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is most often the cause. But other conditions can also cause heartburn. These sources of heartburn may be less frequent than those caused by GERD, but they are still unwelcome, and sufferers still want solutions.

Solutions For ?The Reverse? of Viagra?
December 26 2003–?Erectile dysfunction drugs work well for many men because they typically want sex but can?t- so what are the options for a man who is physically capable of having sex but has lost his desire?
A strong libido and sex-drive is such an important part of a man?s self-confidence, it seems many men are paying just about any price to achieve it. Viagra works from a functionality standpoint, but does not necessarily increase desire & pleasure.
The baby boomer?s now in their forty?s and fifty?s are being bombarded with advertisements on radio, through direct mail, newspapers and e-mail offering sex-pills and formulas claiming to be ?the best? solution - some as far as to state an actual ?cure? for impotency by using that particular product. Prices can range from $19.95 to $149.95 per bottle for a 30-day supply.
Studies on impotency have helped to change the thinking about the most common causes of sexual dysfunction. Nutritional approaches to improve sexual function have been routinely ignored by the traditional medical community. One reason is the common misconception that diminished sexual function is a natural consequence of aging.
Bill Byhower spent two years diligently interviewing homeopathic practitioners and respected herbologists in both Europe and Asia. Ritalin, Depression, and Brain Damage
December 9 2003–Animal findings now show that Ritalin permanently adversely alters the brain function of rats as they grow older, leading to increased depressive behavior and alterations of behavior. The study appears in the Dec. 15, 2003 issue of Biological Psychiatry.
This study sounds alarms regarding the widespread use of Ritalin among children. It raises serious questions about the long-term health problems that are likely to occur by stimulating the nervous system for short-term behavioral improvement.
Expert nutritionist and leading leptin researcher, Byron Richards, CCN, first warned of this danger in his recent book, “Mastering Leptin” (Wellness Resources Books, 2003). He explains the new breakthroughs in biochemistry that help us understand how stimulants damage brain cells. Stimulants depress the brain?s leptin levels, directly exposing brain cells to damage. This leads to stimulant induced anxiety, depression, and addictive behavior. Richards also explains how stimulants damage the NMDA receptor, the key receptor that is malfunctioning in Parkinson?s disease.
Richards states, ?This information raises questions about the safety of Ritalin given to an overweight child. Since an overweight child has leptin resistance, and thus less leptin in the brain, their brains are more susceptible to damage not only from environmental toxins but also from any ingested amphetamine.?
These new animal studies confirm the serious risk of permanent long-term damage from Ritalin.
